From the Home Place

Just a quick fire update.  We are now living in an apartment in Roseburg.  Should be there until the home is ready for us to come back.  We enjoyed 3 weeks on the Umpqua River out near Tyee.  So beautiful and peaceful there.  Too bad it was previously rented for the month of July!  We are now living in Corporate Temporary Housing in Roseburg.  It is a 2 bedroom, 2 bath furnished apartment.  The apt complex has a pool, jacuzzi, exercise room, etc. We just moved in yesterday so have not used any of the facilities yet.

The cleaning at the house is mostly done.  All the rooms have been sealed with a white sealer paint.  The kitchen, hall and the back bedroom have been painted, one coat.  They will do another coat.  The painters will be back to work on Tuesday.  Hopefully the drywall people will come this week to do the living room.  After that they can paint.

We took out the hearth and the wood stove. We also took out the z-brick wall behind the wood stove.  We are going to get a split unit Daiken heating and cooling system (ductless)  At first we were going to get a pellet stove instead of the wood, but this heating and cooling system costs about the same as a pellet stove so it seemed a no  brainer to get both heating and cooling at the same time for the same money.

Still do not know if they are going to replace the living room carpet.  I'm hoping they will without me having to get unpleasant about it.  Another adjuster is coming on Tuesday.

We are going to order a new refrigerator tomorrow.  Sears has a good sale and I really like Kenmore appliances.  We are getting the 3 door style with the freezer at the bottom.  Black.

On the painting--we decided on one color and went with that through the whole house, including the ceilings.  I think I'm really going to like it.  Will send pictures when things get more put together.

We are finally getting some heat!  The garden is loving it!  I have to replant green beans as something is eating them off as soon as they poke through the ground.  I put snail bait out--didn't help.  Everything else looking good.

We are HOPING to be back in the house the first part of August.  Keep using the cell phone to contact us.  541-671-0087
