Terror in the Yard

Yesterday the neighbors dog came into our field and terrorized the chickens, chasing them, catching them to pull their feathers out, etc. When we discovered her, we found several mauled chickens but none dead or even badly wounded, just scared to death. Most of the chickens were no where to be found. We searched the field, both neighbors. Found 4 at the neighbors on the west. A few more hens straggled in. Finally by evening, when it was time to shut them in, most had found their way out of their hiding places and back home. Poor things were soaked and so bedraggled looking with many feathers missing, etc. So we finished the fencing on the new run yesterday and today Dad finished the gate so their time for running loose in the field/yard has come to an end. It was nearly time anyway as we don't let them loose after plants start coming up in the yard and we start planting in the garden.
