GRADUATION and other news FROM THE HOME PLACE

Yesterday we watched Rex and Michelle's Andrea graduate from high school.  Wow, how the years have flown by!  We are so proud of her accomplishment and the beautiful young woman she has become.  She received a couple of nice scholarships and plans on going to the local community college (UCC) in the fall to work on a nursing degree.  She'll be an awesome nurse!  Rex and Michelle had a nice BBQ and gathering at their home afterwards. Thankfully there was a break in the rain so we could be outside. Was also good to see Rex as he's been gone for two+ months. Brayden was up from California and looking good.   Was also great to see Kyle and Sonja's Brittany and Austin.  Brittany is home for the summer from Utah, working at Subway, and planning to go to Oregon State in Corvallis in the fall.

Austin just finished an undefeated season in LaCrosse at Roseburg High School.  Go Austin!

Nathan had a awesome year in track this year.  For all the schools in Douglas County he placed 6th in the 110 hurdles, 7th in the 300 hurdles and  7th in the 4x400 relay.  We expect next year he'll do even better.  Nice job, Nathan!

We were at the temple Friday evening and Saturday morning.  Good trip down and back and always enjoy serving in the temple.  When we got home we saw white chicken feathers all over the place.  Couldn't find one of our young hens that is an escape artist and gets out of the pen.  Assume the neighbors dog was quicker than she was.  So sad but that can happen when you are where you are not supposed to be!

It's still raining.  We had twice the rain in May that we normally do and already in June we have received our normal months rainfall.  More rain coming this week. The fields are afloat.  The grass hay is shoulder high but can't be cut because of the rain.  Some is so tall and wet it is laying down.  We have planted tomatoes, peppers, beans, and beets but things are mostly just sitting there as it is so cold.  Do have lettuce and chard up big enough to eat and have enjoyed lots of good asparagus.  Supposed to get into the 70's this week so maybe that will help.  But it's got to stop raining soon....surely!  We had a fire in the stove all last week. We've used a full cord of wood more than we usually do with this long, cold, wet winter.  We are nearly out of seasoned wood so hope warmer weather is on the way.   Dad cut a couple of trees in the field and got them cut and stacked for next winter.  He'll need to get wood this summer for sure.

Everything else pretty much the same here at home.  Dad and I are feeling good.  The Xango juice has stopped the arthritis pain in his wrists so that's a good thing.  The last time he went to the doctor in Medford he said he didn't need to come back for 4 months.

As most of you know Trina and Braiden Hustead (Robin and Dan) have a beautiful baby boy Dmitri Robert Hustead born 31 May 2010, weighing in at 7 pounds 7 ounces.  Pictures on Facebook. Both mother and baby doing well.  Robin has been there for two weeks and heads home tomorrow.

Uncle Sam and Aunt Pat Reber are serving a 6 month mission in Nauvoo, Illinois.  They are putting in long hours and loving it.  If you get back that way, be sure to stop in and see them.

Be sure to check out the various family blogs to update of family happenings.  We love you all!
