Ben's Family Visits

Ben, Sam, Shane, Quincy, Joshua and Jamie came for their Spring break, arriving last Saturday evening and leaving this morning.  We loved having them here!  On Sunday, Rex, Michelle and family, Ryan, Shannon and Treyse, and Kristen, Meg and Roman were here in the evening to visit.  We had a fun Easter hunt with kids following yarn all over the yard, around the cars, etc.  Pretty funny to watch and they had a good time.  Monday evening Kyle, Sonja and family, Rex, Michelle and family, Rachelle and Ranelle were here for dinner and visiting.  Rachelle and Ranelle came about noon and stayed until Tuesday evening.   So good to have so many here and have the house full again. The cousins had a great time playing together.  Ben took the kids to Wildlife Safari on Tuesday and to the coast on Wednesday.  They had a beautiful day at the coast.  Probably the only good day this week. Thursday they just hung out here mostly.  Did go to the fish ladder and see lots of big fish and to watch Austin play LaCrosse in the evening. We were sorry to see them go this morning early.   Jamie liked gathering the eggs every day and holding the baby chicks. (we have 14 new chicks and 2 turkeys).  I think she and Quincy named every one.

While preparing for the Easter hunt, Dad found a big nest of 18 guinea eggs under the butterfly bush against the back of the house. So both the guinea hens are laying now.  We had guinea eggs for breakfast one morning.  They are about the size of pullet eggs and taste the same as chicken eggs--at least that's what the kids said.  I have a hen going broody so think I will put a clutch of guinea eggs under her to hatch.  Takes 28 days for guineas as opposed to 21 days for chickens.  Hopefully the hen won't be counting the days!

We have had so much rain this past month--about 4 inches I think but seems like way more than that.  Water is everywhere. So, so soggy.  Hope it starts to dry out sometime soon.

I have tomatoes, peppers and basil started in the greenhouse.  Cucumbers, zuccini and yellow crookneck, sweet meat hubbard and cilantro started in the house. Pretty hard to get excited about gardening when there is so much water standing everywhere.

Dad and I are off to the temple this morning.  Will be back tomorrow night.
